Arty Nicharee’s practice is a gentle inquiry into the narratives embedded in materials.

Originally from Bangkok and now based in London, the visual designer and student at Royal College of Art uses illustration and ceramics to trace the contours of memory, femininity, queerness, and the diasporic experience.

In a turn towards the tactile, her recent work embraces hand-built clay as a tool for connection—to self, to community, and to the earth.

Through workshops designed to reclaim creativity from market pressures, she invites others into a shared process of making.

This philosophy extends to her materials, as she exclusively uses reclaimed clay. This process of revival is central to her art: breathing new life into discarded substances becomes a quiet act of defiance and a celebration of the overlooked.

Housewarming

Shoes Off Collective’s debut exhibition

A housewarming ceremony celebrates settling into a new home, marked by auspiciousness and joy.

With the same spirit, we domesticate the remains of a dilapidated house with a collection of finished and in-progress work.

We explore themes such as our shared heritage, identity, folklore, the commodification of creativity and personal narratives.

Through sculpture, moving image, ceramics, painting, textiles, photography and performance, our work reveals a compulsion to seek understanding and genuine exchange. What is home, if not in other people?

Haptic Tactic

Haptic Tactic invites you to slow down and listen to yourself again, trading external judgement for internal curiosity.

This workshop is a gentle, hands-on experience. We will use clay, a malleable, slow, and forgiving medium, as a tool to reflect. You will craft your personal narratives into buttons, finding your way to a more intuitive way of making.

We will explore two prompts together:

  • "What is important to you? - That money can’t buy?”
  • “What do you want to give away?”
